Beloved science teacher, Regina Danette Tawbush, age 52, of Cleveland passed away Saturday, March 4th, 2017. Miss Tawbush was a passionate teacher who retired from the Blount County Board of Education after 29 years. She taught at both Hayden High School and Cleveland High School. She had a BS from the University of Montevallo and an MA from University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Her school and her students were a huge part of Miss Tawbush’s life, and she devoted many hours to her profession. She was a volleyball coach for a number of years, sponsored the BETA Club, and loved to garden. She was the Blount County Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2012 and always engaged her students with hands-on activities and inquiry-based learning.
